“The hunger for love is much more difficult to remove than the hunger for...”
– Today is the last day of my cleanse, last night my friends went to get some yummy food at Franny’s (organic pizza, best in BK). I resisted the urge and went home. I’m a bit out of it and irritable today, but it’s the last stretch —3 more juices to go. Coming out of a juice...

Spring Cleaning (Mind & Body)
So I decided to do some housekeeping and get my body off to the right start, I’ve been looking into various juice cleanses and decided to go with Love Deep by Organic Avenue. Besides the neat packaging and the detailed instructions they send, I love how they give you an inspirational quote to start your cleanse. “Love is the strongest force the world possesses, and yet it is the humblest...

Blue Hill at Stone Barns
We hopped in a zip car and headed 30 minutes north of the city and ended up in the country at Blue Hill at Stone Barns in Pocantico Hills, NY. The main structure looks like an old French farm house, but the the interior is clean and modern. The pastoral setting is idyllic: flowers were in bloom, birds chirping and the sheep were grazing. If you’re a city slicker who wants an escape from...

Know Thy Farmer
Look at my lovely treats from the farmers market: grass-fed beef, fresh pasta, organic apples and veggies. It’s been my new ritual to go twice a week either to the Union Square or 77th Street & Columbus (next to the history museum) markets. It’s so important to support our local farmers, not only are you getting fresher, more nutritious and tastier foods, you’re also...

Joshua Tree
When you think of Joshua Tree, you automatically think U2 and their iconic album cover. I’m not a huge U2 fan (these days), but they did have something special when Photographer, Anton Corbijn (who directed Control) shoot these young Irish lads in the raw-Californian deserts. You can see original footage by Corbijn, U2 before they became prima donnas ;) Anyway, we were lucky enough to...

Surfer Blood
I’m really digging the band, Surfer Blood right now. Check out their t-shirt, look familiar? Shark fins…. instead of successive pulses from a pulsar

Venice Beach
Surfing Cowboys on Abbot Kinney in Venice Beach had these great retro skateboards. I felt like I stumbled into the Dude’s apt.

Silverlake
On my trip to the west coast I got to check out all the neighborhoods of LA. In Silverlake (after waiting 10 min for a pretty good cup of coffee (actually soy chai) at a hipster-magnet called Intelligentsia), I came across this lovely cheese shop. I wanted to get a cheese similar to a Manchego (a soft cheese) and the girl behind the counter suggested Zamorano (which is raw sheep’s milk...
